Abstract:The Yangtze River Economic Belt is the key area of national strategic development and one of the regions with the most active regional economic development. Due to its longterm pursuit of development speed, problems such as resource constraints and environmental pollution are increasingly prominent. How to deal with the relationship between economic development and environmental resources, how to realize green and sustainable development and how to improve the quality of economic development are major issues facing the further development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt in the new era. From the five dimensions of environmental carrying capacity, environmental management, environmental friendliness, environmental stress resistance and environmental stability, an evaluation system for the green development level of the Yangtze River Economic Belt is established. Based on the timespace panel data from 2007 to 2017, the timespace evolution of the green development level of 11 provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt is measured. The results show that the overall level of green development in the Yangtze River economic belt is good, but there are still differences in time dimension and space dimension. With an analysis of the reasons for the spacetime differences, this paper puts forward some suggestions on improving the green development level of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
