    Abstract:

    A particle image velocimetry (PIV) technique with the adaptation of multi time-interval was used to measure the flow field of vertical round jet in still water and cross-flow environments. The reliability of measurement results of the multi time-interval PIV technique was compared and analyzed, and the motion characteristics of the vertical round jet were studied. The results show that the measurement results obtained by the multi time-interval PIV technique can accurately reflect the time-averaged and turbulent characteristics of the jet in still water and cross-flow environments, and its accuracy is significantly better than that of the traditional PIV technique. This study found that the multi time-interval PIV technique can conveniently and accurately measure the flow field with large velocity variation in the viewing window.
