    Abstract:
Considering the hydrological calculation and prediction of ungauged basins, a distributed hydrological model, the THREW model, was adopted to study the upper basin of the Brahmaputra River from the Nuxia Hydrological Station. Surface meteorological observation, remote sensing of vegetation cover, snow cover area, and section hydrological monitoring data were used to calibrate the model, and the latest CMIP5 data were used to estimate the runoff evolution. The results showed that, in the upper basin of the Brahmaputra River from the Nuxia Hydrological Station, the Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient of monthly runoff simulation of the calibration period from 1991 to 1995 was 0. 75, the coefficient of monthly runoff simulation of the validation period from 1996 to 2000 was 0. 76, and the runoff markedly increased when the CO2 discharge in the AR5 of IPCC was maximal.

    Abstract:
Several experiments in which both p (spherical stress) and b (the coefficient of intermediate principal stress) remained constant on theπ-plane were performed on coarse-grained soil by the TSW-40 type true triaxial apparatus at Hohai University. The relationship between the peak value of stress ratio Mb and the value of b in these tests was studied. The test results indicate that Mb decreases with the increase of b, and the influence of b on Mb is greater when b is small, while the influence is small when b is large. The test results also show that Mb decreases with the increase of p under the same value of b, which shows that the strength of coarse-grained soil has nonlinear properties. The failure lines on the π-plane based on five failure criteria, including the failure criterion on a σ3- constant plane, the Mohr-Coulomb criterion, the stress-invariant failure criterion, the Lade-Duncan criterion, and the Matsuoka-Nakai criterion, were drawn and compared with the test results in order to verify the applicability of these criteria to coarse-grained soil. It is shown that the results of the failure criterion on a σ3-constant plane of coarse-grained soil are closer to the test results than those of the Mohr-Coulomb criterion, owing to consideration of the influence of intermediate principal stress, and it is convenient to take strength nonlinearity into account. It is also shown that the results of the stress-invariant failure criterion of coarse-grained soil are between those of the Lade-Duncan criterion and the Matsuoka-Nakai criterion, and they fit the test results better.

    Abstract:
To improve the accuracy of flood forecasting, 13 flood events between 2000 and 2017 were selected from the sections of Lutaizi and Lubeng, and the Xin’anjiang three-source model(XAJ model)was used to simulate the flood events. The Lutaizi basin can be divided into 9 natural sub-basins and the Lubeng basin can be divided into 4 natural sub-basins. Then, the XAJ model was calibrated for these basins. The node generalizability was carried out in the mainstream section of the Huaihe River with flood diversion and flood retarding areas. Combined with the diversion ratio method and the Muskingen method, the simulation method of flood diversion was established, and fairly good forecasting results were obtained. The research results show that: for the relative error of flood volume, the qualified rates of Lutaizi and Lubeng region are both up to 100%, and the Lutaizi reached a qualified rate of 100% in the flood peak, while the Lubeng region reached 92. 3%. In two floods in 2003 and 2007, the relative error and the certainty coefficient of flood peak have been significantly improved.

6  Unsaturated zone aquifer's impact on tidally-induced groundwater fluctuations
    程博超 罗照阳 严佳伟 孔俊
    2015, 43(1):90-94. DOI: 10. 3876/ j. issn. 1000 1980. 2015. 01. 017
    [Abstract](4296) [HTML](0) [PDF 1011.51 K](3739)
    Abstract:
Concerning the phenomenon of tidally-induced groundwater fluctuation in a coastal aquifer, based on the new Boussinesq equation derived by Kong et al., the function express and composition of the wave were analyzed using the perturbation method. Analytical research on the influence mechanism of a tidally-induced high-frequency groundwater wave affected by the unsaturated zone aquifer was conducted. The results indicate that, after the groundwater wave propagated into the coastal aquifer, the dominant frequency amplitude decreased exponentially, and the smaller the hydraulic conductivity was, the larger the decay rate of wave energy was. Besides, under the nonlinear effect, a high-frequency wave was generated during the wave propagation process, and the wave energy transformed from a low-frequency wave to a high-frequency wave. Numerical experiment results show that the increase of unsaturated water holding capacity, the decrease of thickness of the unsaturated zone, and the decrease of porosity of soil promote the formation of a high-frequency wave.

    Abstract:
A systematic study was carried out on paths and frequencies of typhoons affecting the coastal areas of Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. The results show that typhoons affecting the coastal areas of Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces originate in the northwest Pacific and South China Sea, with more than 90% generated in the northwest Pacific. According to the extent of influence of typhoons on the coastal areas of Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, the paths of typhoons can be classified into three types, and their characteristics obtained. Typhoons land in the coastal areas of Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces mainly from May to November each year, and the number of typhoons reaches its maximum in August. The significant period of typhoon frequency is five to six years. The number of typhoons and the accumulated cyclone energy have decreased since the 21st century. Typhoons along the coastal areas of Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces are plentiful in the south and scarce in the north, typhoons land frequently in Zhejiang province and Shanghai City, and there is almost no typhoon landfall in Jiangsu province. Due to the influence of the special hydrological environment and terrain near Hangzhou Bay on the typhoon path, an area centered around Hangzhou Bay is a rare area without typhoons, where no typhoon was observed during the study period.

    2015, 43(1):85-89. DOI: 10. 3876/ j. issn. 1000 1980. 2015. 01. 016
    [Abstract](4030) [HTML](0) [PDF 1.05 M](3581)
    Abstract:
Through laboratory experiments of the evolution of an internal solitary wave (ISW) of depression over step topography in a large stratified fluid tank, the propagating characteristics of the ISW along the mutation topography of the seabed of the South China Sea were studied. The process of the interaction of the ISW and the step topography was shown using layered dye-injection techniques and its structure was quantitatively measured with multi-point combined conductivity-probe arrays. The results show that mutation topography can lead to an amplitude increase of the ISW near the step and cause the waveform to steepen. Further, dynamic phenomena, such as the trail wave train and polarity reversal, are generated.

It also analyzed the deficiencies of current researches, and believed that, in order to provide theoretical basis for further study on the behavior and function of microplastics, it is necessary to expand the research on the interaction between microplastics and organic pollutants, such as strengthening the research in the freshwater environment, establishing systematic research system, and paying attention to the effect of biofilm
10  Design principle and method for the earth rockfill dam with longitudinal reinforcements
    LIANG Jun
    2018, 46(2):128-133. DOI: 10.3876/j.issn.1000-1980.2018.02.005
    [Abstract](3941) [HTML](0) [PDF 1.34 M](22687)
    Abstract:
To improve the operational safety of earth rockfill dam, a longitudinal reinforcement is proposed. This rigid structure has triple functions as the seepage controlling, stress resistance and deformation resistance. Based on the classical mechanics, its anti-seepage effect, anti-deformation ability and the capacity to withstand external force is quantitatively analyzed. In addition, the quantitative relationships between the reinforcement thickness and the downstream water level, as well as the material properties of the rockfill dam are derived. For the theoretical derivation, the reinforced body is regarded as a fixed-end beam, loaded by water pressures from upstream and downstream, the active earth pressure from rockfill and the vertical drag force due to the differential settlement between core walls and rockfill. The top displacement together with the rotation angle and the bottom stress of the fixed end are derived from the deformation differential equation and validated through designing reviews. Subsequently, the construction method of buried steel pipe, which is adopted to perform the base grouting and also to meet the strength requirements, is put forward. The proposed method plays an important guiding role in rehabilitating and reinforcing the dangerous earth rockfill dams, as well as the design and construction of new dams.
11  Landslide reactivation of Zhenggang deposit talus at Gushui Hydropower Station

    2015, 43(1):28-33. DOI: 10. 3876/ j. issn. 1000 1980. 2015. 01. 006
    [Abstract](3906) [HTML](0) [PDF 2.57 M](3678)
    Abstract:
Zhenggang deposit talus at Gushui Hydropower Station is in a stable state at present. However, it may become unstable under conditions of rain or earthquakes, which may lead to landslides and even threaten the safety of cavern exits downstream. In order to solve this problem, a typical geological profile was chosen for geological characteristic analysis. Then, a granular discrete element model was built for numerical simulation of landslide reactivation in different cases. The results show that cracks easily occur near the position where the dip angle of the slip surface increases sharply or a fault develops, which also affects the initial landslide position. When the water pressure of three meters is loaded on the slip surface, the deposit talus starts to creep, and when the water pressure reaches five meters, a third-stage landslide may become active aqain. When the seismic strength reaches 0.3g, the deposit talus on the first platform begins to slide, and a third-stage landslide is generated.

13  A new type curve method for estimating hydrogeological parameters of confined aquifers

    Abstract:
In order to make full use of the continues pumping test data to estimate the hydraulic conductivity(K), the transmissivity(T)and the storage coefficient(μ*)of different head depression cones in a confined aquifer, a dimensionless analytical solution of drawdown transients with variable pumping rates was derived based on the Theis formula and the principle of superposition. Furthermore, a new type curve method was proposed. The in-situ pumping test was conducted to obtain the drawdown record perturbed by stepwise rates. Then, the drawdown curve was used to match the corresponding type curve. After that, this method selects one match point and records its coordinate values on both the type curve and the real drawdown curve. By substituting these recorded values into related formulas, the hydraulic parameters of the confined aquifer can be determined. This method was applied to a field pumping test conducted at a southern highway in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China. The type curve matching process is implemented in stages. Field test results reveal that the hydraulic conductivity of the confined aquifer with the 2-3 silt layer are 5. 12×10-4 cm/s, 2. 54×10-3 cm/s and 2. 83×10-3 cm/s respectively, which are corresponding to three-stage stepwise pumping rates.

    Abstract:
Based on the sample entropy, this study analyzed the spatial distribution and dynamic change characteristics of the complexity of runoff series using long-term daily runoff data from the Yichang, Hankou, and Datong hydrological stations, which were determined to be the main hydrological control stations in the Yangtze River. The results showed that the complexity of runoff series showed obvious spatial differences and an increasing trend from upstream to downstream in the Yangtze River. There was a negative correlation relationship between the annual runoff and the sample entropy value at every station. The complexity of runoff series at the Yichang and Datong stations showed a continuous increasing trend, and an increasing trend after 2000 at the Hankou Station.
15  Experiment on subsidence deformation of dredger fill sea sand
LU Peixia XU Yongfu CHEN Zhiming JIN Mingdong
    2015, 43(3):261-266. DOI: 10.3876/j.issn.1000-1980.2015.03.012
    [Abstract](3549) [HTML](0) [PDF 3.76 M](3513)
    Abstract:
Subsidence deformation of dredger fill sea sand in Qidong City, Jiangsu Province, was studied using a consolidometer. Dredger fill sea sand with a subsidence coefficient of 1. 1%, which is less than the subsidence coefficient of the subgrade filling material of a highway, i. e. , 1. 5%, can be used as the subgrade filling material. Sea sand samples with different salt contents were prepared by adding different quantities of NaCl to investigate the effect of the salt content and pressure on the subsidence coefficient. It was found that the subsidence coefficient increased with the salt content and reached the maximum value when the pressure was 200 kPa.
16  Review and prospects for load modeling of power system
ZHAO Jingbo JU Ping SHI Jiajun QIN Chuan
    2020, 48(1):87-94. DOI: 10.3876/j.issn.1000 1980.2020.01.013

    Abstract:
Load modeling is a fundamental issue in the operation and control of power system, which has very important significance in theory and practice. First, this study reviews existing load modeling achievements, provides an overview of existing load models and methodologies for parameters estimation, identifies current industry practice on load modeling for power system, and summarizes the shortcomings of existing load modeling theory. Then, future prospects are analyzed, including new challenges and new requirements for modeling work resulted from major changes in load characteristics and grid structure, and new opportunities with the rapid development of artificial intelligence and big data. Finally, the future work is summarized as a twostep problem that is “qualitative correctness” of model structure and “quantitative accuracy” of model parameters. The structure of a generalized synthesis load model is proposed considering the active load. To establish the longterm mechanism of load modeling, a “type classified and time classified” load model database, taking the advantage of a variety of online modeling methods as well as the artificial intelligence algorithm, is proposed.
