Noble gases dissolved in groundwater have been used as an ideal medium for reconstructing the records of paleo-temperature and paleo-humidity when the groundwater is recharged. This paper briefly introduced the principle of a noble gas thermometer and three interpretative models used for noble gases in groundwater. The advances and major disadvantages of paleoclimate research(on temperature and humidity)of noble gases in China and abroad were addressed in detail, including the necessity of improvement of calibrating models and groundwater dating in the future.
