Status of agricultural water consumption in Shanghai City are introduced. Taking Jinshan, Qingpu as examples, the water-saving measures taken in the agricultural water-saving in typical pilot areas of Shanghai city and the effects achieved are combed. The countermeasures and suggestions for the agricultural water saving in Shanghai are put forward in the aspects of measurement facilities, quota management, water price adjustment and irrigation mode, including promoting the measurement infrastructure construction, strengthening the fine management; revision of water quota, implementation of quota management; implementation of agricultural progressive pricing scheme for water use, strengthening complement incentive mechanism; development of advanced water-saving irrigation technology, increasing water conservation publicity and education efforts.
