Abstract:Chinese modernization encompasses multiple dimensions, including the theoretical system, goals, and pathways. As a theoretical system, it has been initially constructed; as a pathway, it is under way; and as a goal, there is still a long and difficult journey ahead. “The new form of human civilization” essentially refers to the new form of Chinese modernization, which contains a new type of civilization view on economy, politics, culture, society, and ecology that are not found in Western modernization. It has broken the monopoly and hegemony of “modernization being equal to westernization” and demonstrated the theoretical confidence and confidence in the chosen path to Chinese modernization. Although Chinese modernization focuses on the theoretical and pathway, and the “new form of human civilization” focuses on the interpretation of the meaning, they are essentially interchangeable categories of equal degree. The assertion that “Chinese modernization is engendering the new form of human civilization” conveys the idea that Chinese modernization is engendering a new pathway representing human modernization and a new civilizational discourse system that is intrinsically united with truth and morality. This assertion is only the completion at the theoretical level, while it is in progress at the practical level and the future completion at the goal level. If we interpret Chinese modernization only in the sense of a goal and equate the “new form of human civilization” with “social form”, it will inevitably lead to paradoxes and confusion, as well as illusory satisfaction and blind self-confidence in equating ideals with reality.
