Abstract:A Multi-dimensional Interpretation of How Red Ceremonies Shape the Image of the Communist Party of China as a Major Party Sun Chongya and Gao Fujin wrote in the Journal of Hohai University (Philosophical and Social Sciences Edition) Issue 1, 2026, that as a political act carrying the red genes and the spirit of the Party, the red ceremony is highly coupled with the formation of the image of the Communist Party of China as a major party:“Red symbol” as a metaphorical carrier, sketches the image of the Party as a “revolutionary builder” with concrete red elements, and gathers revolutionary enthusiasm and fighting spirit; “Red language” as a narrative tool, deeply describes the Party’s spiritual outlook through textual and performative schemas, and conveys the Party’s value concepts; “Red landscape” as a carrier for creating a trusting atmosphere, presupposes a sacred functional field, prompts participants to form an emotional resonance with the theme of the ceremony, and strengthens political identification. The red ceremony has multiple value functions in shaping the image of the Communist Party of China as a major party and is an important support for consolidating the Party’s governance foundation: at the “image recognition” level, it enhances the audience’s sense of identity by depicting the collective memory of the red; at the “image presentation” level, it constructs a power landscape serving the community, improves the political communication mechanism, and strengthens the Party’s political mobilization power; at the “image dissemination” level, it expands the space for emotional empathy, promotes the socialization of the Party’s ideology, and presents the Party’s glorious image in different historical stages in a three-dimensional manner. In the new era, to shape and disseminate the image of the Communist Party of China as a major party, it is necessary to confront the impact of diverse cultural trends, the communication challenges of the digital age, and the cognitive biases in the international public opinion field, and to grasp the leadership of image construction by optimizing the red ceremony: first, it is necessary to strengthen the standardized supply of red ceremonies, exert efforts from the aspects of system, function, and style, and engrave the historical image of the Party shouldering the mission of national rejuvenation; second, it is necessary to innovate the political narrative paradigm of red ceremonies, promote the diversification of narrative themes and the digitalization of presentation methods, and deeply describe the Party’s image of forging ahead in the new era; third, it is necessary to expand the resonance field of red ceremonies, build a translation mechanism between performance and international discourse power, create overseas dissemination platforms, and cultivate the Party’s image of caring for the world, making the image of the Communist Party of China as a major party in the new era more distinct, vivid, and lively, taking root in the country and reaching out to the world.
